Wilma L. Rudolph , age 98 of Montello passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Montello Care Center. Wilma was born at home in the Town of Mecan, Marquette County to William and Lydia (Menzel) Bornick on September 4, 1922. She was united in marriage to Harvey Rudolph on May 14, 1949 at Emmanuel (Big Mecan) Lutheran Church and together they were blessed with two children. Wilma was proud to have been born and raised on a farm and continued to be a hard worker throughout her life. She was employed at Ripon Knitting Works until she assumed the role of being a full-time mother. Wilma and Harvey were faithful members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montello. She enjoyed word puzzles and will be remembered for being a loving wife, devoted mother and for her humor and intellect.
Wilma is survived by her husband of almost 72 years, Harvey and two children: Terence of Denver, CO and Tami (Brad) Salzwedel of Sauk City. She is also survived by her step-grandson, James Salzwedel, sister-in-law, Patricia Bornick and several nieces and nephews.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Aaron Salzwedel and three brothers: Lester, Melvin and Elmer.
A graveside service for Wilma Rudolph will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:30 AM at the Montello Eastside Cemetery. Pastor Pete Zietlow will lead the service. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to The Montello Care Center, 251 Forest Lane, Montello, WI 53949.
