Wayne Johnson

Wayne La Dell Johnson, age 45 of Montello died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 21, 2011. Wayne was born on May 16, 1966 in Friars Point, Mississippi to Billy Anderson and Rosie Mae Johnson. At an early age he lived in Chicago before returning home to Friars Point. Wayne attended Coahoma Agricultural High School in Clarksdale, Mississippi. It was in 1998 that Wayne made Montello his permanent home at first under the care of his loving Aunt Louise and Uncle Eddie Washington and then independently with the help of the community. Wayne enjoyed participating in Special Olympics where he won many ribbons and medals in different running events. He was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed spending time with his family as well as playing video games, pinball machines, cards and shooting pool. Wayne worked at both TW Design & Manufacturing and Diverse Options in Montello and was always willing to help a friend in need. He had a great smile and cheerful personality; Wayne will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Wayne leaves behind his father, Billy Anderson and seven siblings: Robert Moore, Ossie Moore, Naomi Moore, John Johnson, Will Johnson, Anthony (Patrice) Johnson and James Johnson. He is further survived by two special aunts: Louise Washington and Margaret Woods as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Wayne is preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Mae Johnson. His family held a funeral service on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Salem Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. His friends in Montello would like to invite you to Crawford Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Wayne's life. A brief prayer service led by Pastor Dawn Helton-Anishnaabeqwa will begin at 11:30 a.m. and following the service all are welcome at the Town Pump for potluck meal. At his friend's request, in lieu of flowers, all memorials are to be directed to Diverse Options-Marquette County Division, 636 Main Street, Montello, 53949.
