Warren E. Mc Conkey, age 65, of Westfield died Friday, May 18, 2012 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Warren was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on August 25, 1946 to Douglas and Mildred (Forester) Mc Conkey. He valiantly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a medic for the 101st Airborne on two different tours. He later met the love of his life, JoAnn Rockey and eventually married her on September 6, 2001. Warren was employed by O'Hare Van Lines as a dispatcher for 23 years until he moved to work for the State of Tennessee in the Department of Forestry. After retiring in 2006, he and JoAnn moved to Westfield to be close to family. Warren enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandson. He liked to cook, watch TV and ride his motorcycle. Warren was an active member of The People's Church and will always be remembered for his great personality and sense of humor. Even though he left us too soon, he won't be soon forgotten. Warren leaves behind his wife, JoAnn of Westfield, son, Sean, daughter, Heather Mc Conkey, step-son, Donald Kostecki Jr. and a very special grandson, Vincent Kostecki, all of Illinois. Warren is also survived by many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews all of Tennessee as well as sister-in-law: Barb McHugh of Westfield. He is further survived by special nieces: Colleen (Norlin) Reetz, Kathleen (Scott) Virch and Laureen McHugh, all of Westfield, great-nieces: Jennifer (Troy) Burgess and their children: Braydon and Madeline, Priscilla (John) York, Samantha Jo Cureton, great-nephew, Matt Virch and best friends: Bill Hamlin and Ron McHugh. Warren is preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter, Deanna Elizabeth Kostecki. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at The People's Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Mark Hensley will officiate and burial with full military honors by the Westfield Area Veterans will follow the service at Westfield East Cemetery.
