Vernon Dahlke

Vernon 'Vern' Dahlke, age 84 of Montello passed away peacefully, Friday afternoon, February 15, 2013 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. Vern was born on the family farm in Buffalo Township, Marquette County on February 12, 1929 to Fred and Esther (Mateske) Dahlke. He was a 1946 Montello High School graduate. Vern married Lenore Timm on September 19, 1953 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hartland, WI and from that union came four children. Lenore preceded Vern in death in December of 2005. Vern owned and operated Vern's Friendly Service in Montello and later went to work for Gatzke Farms for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, serving in many different capacities. Vern enjoyed watching birds, woodworking as well as fishing. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Vern is survived by three children: Donna (Paul) Tullberg of Wisconsin Rapids, Dennis of North Branch, MN and Fredric (Julie) of Montello as well as five grandchildren: Kathryn (Brian) Beauchene, Sarah (Andrew) Sierszyn, Jessica (Angel) Ricardo, Michael Dahlke and Caleb Dahlke. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Raylen, Rowen, Isaac and Brenna. Vern is further survived by his sister, Myrtle Krueger of Milwaukee, his brother, Donald (Linda) of Montello and step-mother, Florence Dahlke of Montello. Vern is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter, Karen Dahlke. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Herbert and sister, Lillian and Rita Dahlke, mother of Jessica and Michael. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home and again at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday. Pastor Pete Zietlow will preside and burial will follow at the Montello City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 313 E.
