Velma Martin

Velma Martin, age 97, of Montello, formerly of Oxford passed away on December 24th, 2009 at the Montello Care Center. She was born on November 10, 1912 in Nilwood, Il to Edward and Sara (Davis) Cain and married Loren Martin on May 5, 1935, he preceded her in death in December of 2001. Velma worked as a buyer of women's clothing for a department store as well as taking care of her family. She enjoyed home decorating and spending time in her garden; other hobbies included playing golf and fishing. Survivors include: son, David (Shari) of Madison, grandson, Matthew of Chicago and sisters: Marcella, Viva, and Glenna. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers: Chester, Harold, Marlin, and Zeldon and one sister, Treva. Following Velma's wishes she was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.
