Thomas Tweed

Thomas J. Tweed, age 85 of Montello passed away Thursday afternoon, August 15, 2013 at UW-Hospital in Madison. Tom was born in Houston, Missouri on May 24, 1928 to Thomas and Ethel (Freeland) Tweed Sr. He valiantly served his country as a member of United States Army and following his honorable discharge in 1948 he enrolled into a vocational program to become a mason. On September 27, 1952 he married Carol Jacobson. Tom worked for Continental Can Company in Milwaukee for 36 years until retiring to the Montello area in 1978. Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were: hunting, fishing, gardening as well as snowmobiling.

Survivors include: his wife of almost 61 years, Carol and three children: Linda (David) Farrand of Milwaukee, Terry Tweed of Portage and Sandra Tweed of West Allis. He is also survived by his brother, Harold of Waterford and his sister, Velma Kuehn of Houston, MO as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Anna Jane Wallace and Ruby Smith. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Immediately following the visitation, burial with full military honors by American Legion Post 351 of Montello will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, town of Packwaukee.
