Susan Simpson

Susan “Sue” Jane Simpson , age 81 of Oxford and formerly of Springfield, IL and Dubuque, IA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at The Residences on Forest Lane in Montello.  Susan was born in Springfield, IL on April 18, 1939 to Melville and Helen (Schmuck) Tipps.  She graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy in 1957 and then began her professional career. Sue worked in various clerical positions and also as a bartender for several years. Sue moved to Dubuque where she worked as a bartender at several of the area’s local establishments for many years. In 2016, Sue moved to Wisconsin to be closer to family.  Sue was a free spirit, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. She often amused her family with funny and entertaining stories of her life experiences.  Sue was an avid animal lover, especially her cats.  She also enjoyed traveling, cooking and experiencing different kinds of foods. Sue will be fondly remembered for her fiery, yet humorous personality, the love she had for her family and friends, and her often unsuccessful attempts at playing Keno. Sue leaves behind her daughter, Kim (Doug) Hill of Oxford and two grandchildren: Jen (Matt) Olesen and Jordan (Sarah) Hill as well as her sister, Bonnie (Bill) Allen.  She is further survived by her feline companions: Mario and Baby Girl as well as other extended family members.
