Sherman P. Bean of Huntley, IL (formerly of Montello) passed away peacefully on Friday evening, June 29, 2012 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. He was born December 7, 1935 in Milwaukee to Walter and Evelyn Bean and grew up in Montello. He served our country as member of the United States Air Force after high school and then graduated from St. Louis University, Parks College with a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Sherman went on to be a very successful business executive in the electrical industry and later, an entrepreneur building a Marina business in Florida and a Frozen Custard shop in Illinois. His passion was flying; he was a member of EAA and volunteered his time every year at the EAA Oshkosh Fly-In. Sherman is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Bornick) Bean; son Michael Bean of Elburn; daughter-in-law Cheryl Bean of Barrington; grandchildren Christopher (Juliana), Ryan, Patrick, Stephen; sisters: Sharon (Kenneth) Labrenz of Wisconsin and Judy Dalton of Illinois; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sherman was a gregarious man and a positive influence on all who met him. He will be missed very much by his family and all the friends whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Dawn Helton-Anishnaabeqwa will preside and inurnment will follow at Montello City Cemetery. Full military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 351 of Montello.
