Sharon Putnam

Sharon Fay Putnam, age 64 of Montello passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.  Sharon was born in Waupun, WI to Jerome and Darlene (Harrington) Vandestreek on March 26, 1959.  She graduated from Waupun High School in 1977 and shortly after moved to California.   While in California, she had her three children, and she began her career in hospital security.  In 2011, she returned to Wisconsin taking a job in the same field at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage.  Sharon later moved to Montello and married Larry Putnam on March 27, 2021.  

Sharon was an avid fisherwoman; she and Larry spent countless hours fishing together from their home on Buffalo Lake all the way to Alaska.   Sharon was also active in the community as a member and past President of the Montello Lions Club.  She loved her family and will be remembered for kindness and in her words “Safety First.” 

Sharon is survived by her husband, Larry, mother, Darlene Vandestreek and six children: Chris (Jess) Suttles, Jonny (Trish) Suttles, Kimberly Foley, Duane Putnam, Amber Putnam and Brittany (Cory) Jepson.   She is also survived by six grandchildren, three siblings:  Sue (Rick) Ehrlich, Kathy Popp and Karen Vandestreek as well as other extended family members.  

Sharon is preceded in death by her father.

A memorial service for Sharon Putnam will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello.   Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of service.  Pastor Mike Vargo will officiate and inurnment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that will be established in Sharon’s name.
