Rose Sawyer

Rose Marie Sawyer, age 67 of Montello passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 19, 2021.  Rose was born in Chicago, IL on June 2, 1954 to Thomas and Ruth (Bowen) O’Connell.  She graduated from Montello High School in 1972 and was employed at Montello Products for many years and also worked at Great Lakes Higher Education, retiring in 2016.  Rose married Gerard Sawyer in St. Augustine, Florida on May 13, 2011; they enjoyed many adventures together.

Rose enjoyed going to beaches both around the great lakes and tropical areas in search of interesting rocks and shells.  Her most cherished titles were mom, grandma and sister; she loved her family and making memories with them was especially important to her.  Rose will be greatly missed.

Rose leaves behind her husband, Gerard and two children: Monica (Albert) Ottoway and Ernest Miller Jr. both of California, two stepchildren: Krista (Tyler) Behling of Fond du Lac and April (Ryan) Monaghan of Stevens Point.  She is also survived by several grandchildren and siblings: Kathy (Bud) Hockerman of Westfield and Bernard O’Brien of Texas.  Rose is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Nicole Miller, sisters: Caryl O’Brien and Theresa Finley and sister-in-law, Sarah O’Brien.

A memorial service for Rose Sawyer will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Cross Point Assembly of God, 2727 County Road CX, Portage.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.  Rev. Brent Johnson will preside and inurnment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that will be established in Rose’s name.
