Robert Oliver

Robert 'Bob' Oliver, age 90 of Montello passed away peacefully Sunday morning, December 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 10, 1921 in Dallas, TX to Robert and Bessie (Tunnell) Oliver. Upon completion of high school and college he joined the military and valiantly served his country during World War II as a pilot in the Army Air Force. On June 8, 1957 Bob married Alyce Hildebrandt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau, WI. Bob worked as an over the road truck driver as well as an independent construction contractor. He was an active member of American Legion Post 351 of Montello where he served as commander for seven different terms as well as State Commander in 1988-89. Some of the hobbies Bob enjoyed were gardening, fishing and computers and most of all spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Alyce, two children: Robert Brockhaus of Milwaukee and Gail (Allen) Daniels of Montello as well as two grandchildren: Jody Daniels and Kelly (Liz Jones) Daniels. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Michael Goodwin, Tonisha Daniels, Kenny Ross, Vanessa Jones and Kylie Daniels as well as one brother, Don (Annette) of New Mexico. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Maxine and Monette. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Clint Rudesill will officiate and full military honors will be performed immediately following the service by American Legion Post 351 of Montello. Following the traditional service, Bob will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Budda-Box Fight Against Cancer, P.O. Box 91, Westfield, WI 53964.
