Robert Hoffman

Robert J. Hoffman, age 57 of Montello passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo. He was born on December 8, 1953 in Ripon to Robert and Virginia (Disterhaft) Hoffman. Bob was a 1973 graduate of Princeton High School where he excelled in athletics. He married Jean Bednarek at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello on July 20, 1974 and together they had four children. Bob was an easygoing, caring man who would help anyone who needed it. He loved being outdoors; his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing and playing cards. Bob was employed by Ripon Good Cookies for 37 years and will always be remembered for volunteering for the Haunted Hay Rides and the Germania Parade. Bob is survived by his wife, Jean of Montello, parents, Robert (Virginia) of Neshkoro, four children: Michelle (Troy) Steege of Montello, Malinda (fianci�½ William Parsons) Hoffman of Wautoma, Jeremy (Michelle) of Neshkoro and Jonathon of Princeton and two grandchildren: Cody and Cole. Bob is also survived by his two brothers: Dennis (Sue) and Allan (Phyllis) both of Neshkoro, three brothers-in-law, Mike Bednarek, Andrew Bednarek, and Ron (Missy) Bednarek and sisters-in-law: Bev (Ian) McLaren, Cathy (Dave) Weiss, and Julie (David) Hoover, as well as sixteen nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Marge Bednarek and many cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends. Bob is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ed Bednarek Jr., grandparents and many aunts and uncles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Montello. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 9th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Father Richard Lesniak will officiate and burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
