Robert "Bob" Matthew Arbeiter Sr., age 85 of Montello passed away Friday afternoon, April 24, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Madison with his family by his side. Bob was born on October 31, 1929 to Lorenz and Marion (Yarnig) Arbeiter in Milwaukee. He served his country in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. Bob married Verna Polzin in Milwaukee and together they had four children. He worked for the West Milwaukee Police Department for 28 years. Bob married Jane (Bliefnick) Scanlon on May 17, 1980 and together they resided in the Montello area; Jane preceded him death on April 2, 2015. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling. He prided himself as being a gentlemen farmer in his retirement as well as cooking for his family.
Bob is survived by his four children: Robert Arbeiter Jr. of Montello, Marion (Steve) Reese of Montello, Marilyn (Dale) Pielmeier of Hartford and David (Pam) Arbeiter of Germantown as well as ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Larry and Richard (Mary Ann) as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children, Verna and sister-in-law, Lois. A funeral service for Robert will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Scott Arbeiter will officiate and burial will follow the service at Montello Eastside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred for a memorial that is being established in Bob's name for cancer research.
