Raymond Schaefer

Raymond Joseph Schaefer Sr., age 74 of Westfield passed away Thursday morning, May 14, 2015 at his home. Ray was born in Arcadia, WI on October 2, 1940 to Marvel and Minnie (Schwertel) Schaefer. He attended Arcadia High School and later married Darlene Henderson in Arcadia on November 26, 1960. Ray worked for Telsmith Manufacturing in Mequon as a machinist for 38 years before retiring and moving to Westfield in the early 2000's. Ray enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He also spent a much time fixing and painting vehicles and helping others in need. Above all else, Ray loved his family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed. Ray leaves behind his wife of almost 55 years, Darlene and five children: Debra (Keith) Soderlin of Fond du Lac, David (Elizabeth) and Raymond (Rose Marie) both of Milwaukee, Jeffrey (Kristi) of West Allis and Patrick of Milwaukee. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three sisters: Joan Kotlarz, Janice (Alosyzy) Saverynski and Barbara (Pete) Kupka. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Bradley and three siblings: Robert, Marcel "Bud" and Darlene. A memorial service for Raymond will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home of Oxford. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Chaplain Susan Greenler will preside and private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
