Penny Marie Shelman Rannebarger , age 83 of Oxford passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
Penny was born on July 4, 1938, in Shenault, KY, to the late William Chester Shelman and Josephine Marie Flaherty Shelman. Her son, Charles Michael Morgan; daughter, Charlotte Ann Morgan Lacey; sister, Margaret Carol Shelman Kerns; brothers, William C. Shelman and Lawrence Lee Shelman also preceded her in death.
Penny was a teacher’s aide at Cross Roads Elementary in Rhodelia, KY for 19 years. In 1983 Penny married Major William T. Rannebarger, and became a loyal military wife and traveled the world with her husband. In 2000, after retiring, Penny and Bill moved to Radcliff, KY. Penny was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Church in Payneville, KY and she loved sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her loving husband William T Rannebarger; two children, son, David (Julia) Morgan of Rhodelia, KY and daughter, Mary Lou (Russ) Hanson of Oxford, WI; brothers, Terry (Rita) Shelman of Carlisle, PA, Norman Eugene (Jackie) Shelman of Louisville, KY, Lynn (Linda) Shelman of Brandenburg, KY, James Gary (Judy) Shelman of Boerne, TX, John E (Jane) Shelman of Omaha, NE, Stanley Shelman of Louisville, KY, and Chuck (Becky) Shelman of Ekron, KY; Sisters- in-laws, Jean Shelman of Shepardsville, KY, Betty Shelman of Tucson, AZ, and Betty Sue Smith of Brandenburg, KY; nine Grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; Long-time friend and mentor, Sister David Clare Reasbeck of Louisville, KY.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Saint Theresa of Avila Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021, from 2:00-8:00 PM at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home and after 9:00 AM Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Saint Theresa of Avila Church in Payneville, KY.
