Paul Calamari

Paul Stanford Calamari, age 77 of Oxford/Montello passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.  Paul was born in Chicago to Paul and Edna (Siegel) Calamari on February 9, 1941.  He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Niles, IL in 1959 and enlisted in the Army; he served his country from 1963 until 1965.  Paul married Connie Skorka in Mt. Prospect, IL on September 7, 1986 and together they came to the area in 2000 and embarked on a new journey as motel owners; owning and operating The Crossroads Motel and Cabins ever since.

Paul was a very community minded person; he was a longtime member of the Montello Rotary, Marquette County Tourism and the Montello Chamber of Commerce.  He was an active member of the Westfield VFW and Good Shepherd Catholic Church where he sang in the choir.  Paul dedicated himself to youth sports, umpiring high school baseball and softball in Illinois and Wisconsin for over 25 years and most recently officiating volleyball.

Paul is survived by his wife of almost 32 years, Connie and one son, Paul Stanford Jr. (Bridgette) of Lake Zurich, IL, step-daughters: Ellen Marie Pierce of Chicago and Jennifer Lynn Pierce of Packwaukee.  He is also survived by two grandchildren: Jake Evan and Sarah Faith as well three brothers: Robert, Richard (Pam), Michael (Kim) and uncle, Robert (Mary) Calamari, aunts: Lorain Buonincontro and Betty Rolfe.  Paul is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Theodora, aunts: Florence Siegel and Betty Znuj.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Paul will be held at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Westfield on Friday, August 31, 2018.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of mass at the church.  Father Savio Yerasani will preside and immediately following the mass, military honors will be performed.  Inurnment will take place at later date at Central Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery at King.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory are preferred to Notre Dame High School, 7655 W. Dempster Street, Niles, IL 60714 for the further education of our youth or the VFW Post of Westfield, WI in the endeavors of veteran’s services.

A Memorial Mass for Paul will also be held on Saturday, September 29th at 5:00 PM at the Notre Dame High School Chapel in Niles, IL.  No flowers allowed; donations in Paul's name to Notre Dame College Prep would be greatly appreciated.
