Michael Connor

Michael J. Connor, age 76 of Montello, WI/Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family early Wednesday morning, May 7, 2014 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. Mike was born in Madison to Verus and Thelma (Steinmetz) Connor on March 2, 1938. He attended Madison East High School and went on to own and operate Metaskil, Inc., a metal fabricating company based in Middleton. He married Madonna Schutz at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain, WI on November 14, 1959. Together they raised their family in the Waunakee area until retiring in 1991 at which time they split their residency between Montello and Fort Myers. Mike was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. He had many hobbies: model trains, trap shooting, woodworking and landscaping. Mike was a fan of jazz music and enjoyed spending time with his family. Mike leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Madonna and his five children: Theron Connor of Madison, Lisa Geiger, Michelle (Robert Jr.) Varebrook, both of Waunakee, Julie (John) Davids of Oshkosh and Sara (Matthew) Kennedy of Madison as well as twelve grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-father, Raymond Knudtson. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Jeffrey Geiger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Father David Carrano will preside and burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Resurrection Cemetery, Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe Street, Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606.
