Mervin 'Red' Nagle, age 81 of Montello passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 3, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. Red was born in Chicago on February 18, 1931 to Mervin W. and Anna (Redding) Nagle. Red worked as a hot tar roofer for over 35 years in the Chicago area; the majority of that time was spent with his father's company, Nagle Roofing and later for Brown and Kerr Roofing where he retired from. Red was a proud member of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers, Local 11 for over 55 years. In November of 1980, he married Judy Powless at Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello, the two later divorced but remained close friends. Red loved to talk to people; he spent countless hours at his coffee clutches and local restaurants with his family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and in his later years he spent much time with his two Labrador Retriever 'napping pals,' Jesi and Molly. Without question, Red loved spending time with his family and most of all spoiling his grandson, Jason. Red leaves behind one son, Mervin Jason (Lisa) Nagle of Montello and their son Jason Garski as well as his sister, Joe Anna Mueller of Gallatin, TN. He is also survived by six step-children: Gary Mueller of Montello, Mark Mueller of Montello, Roberta (Dale) Kanak of Green Lake, Rachelle (Gary) Goebel of Mt. Horeb, Brian (Deb) Mueller of Watertown and Brenda (Tom) Wick of Princeton. Red is further survived by his aunt Laverne Ritcher, uncle Chuck Nagle, special friend, June, numerous step-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Red is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Bergmann, step-son, Paul Mueller, step-daughter, Renee Mueller and step-granddaughter, Aimee. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Crawford Funeral Home on Friday March 9, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Dawn Helton-Anishnaabeqwa presiding. Visitation will be held from 4:30 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Budda-Box Fight Against Cancer, P.O. Box 91, Westfield, WI 53964.
