Maureen Becraft

Maureen Ellen Becraft, age 71 of Montello passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 10, 2023 at her home.  Maureen was born in Greenville, Michigan on February 17, 1952 to Maurice and Ellen “Louise” Chickering.  Her family moved to Montello in 1954 and Maureen graduated from Montello High School in 1970.  She married John Becraft at Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello on September 29, 1973 and together they were blessed with one daughter.  John preceded Maureen in death on November 21, 2011.

Maureen worked with her family on their farm as well as at AMPI in Portage.  She was passionate about horses and was a long-standing member and current vice-president of the WI Desert Horse Association.  Maureen was an active and faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello and will be remembered for sharing her:  jellies, jams and Jesus.

Maureen is survived by her daughter, Surena Becraft of Sun Prairie and several extended family members and many friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A memorial service for Maureen Becraft will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of service.  Rev. Lisa Gilbert will preside and inurnment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to The Budda Box Fight Against Cancer, P.O. Box 591, Montello, WI 53949.
