Marie A. Budney, age 83 of Oxford passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at her home. Marie was born on February 11, 1931 to Joseph and Mary (Kolinski) Toporski in Cudahy. She married Raymond Budney in Milwaukee on October 4, 1952 and together lived and raised their family until moving the Oxford area in 1993. Raymond preceded Marie in death on February 4, 2011. Marie was a very active and invested member of the communities she lived in. While in Milwaukee, she was a certified Cub Scout Leader, Ways and Means Chairperson at St. Joseph's Home and School Association, Past President of both the West Allis Women's Club and 4th District State of Wisconsin Woman's Club, delivered meals on wheels, volunteered as a tutor for the Milwaukee Literacy Group, was the chairperson for the St. Charles and Heartland Christmas Fair and the Past President of the town of Delafield Senior Center. While in Oxford she served: as a poll worker, the Secretary of St. Ann Catholic Church Council for eight years and Hospitality chairman for St. Ann's Friendship Circle as well as ministering and lecturing for over thirty years. Marie recently became a life member of VFW Post 6003 Auxiliary of Oxford and loved arts and crafts of all kinds: rosemaling, knitting, sewing, card making, crocheting as well as needle point and stamping. She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo on Monday nights at the VFW Post and watching football. Marie loved her family very much and the memories made with them will not be soon forgotten. Marie is survived by her four children: Mark (Mary Jane) of Louisburg, Kansas, Patricia (Thomas) Jankowski of Muskego, Kathrin Budney of Muskego and Michael (Julie) of Milwaukee, eight grandchildren: Matthew, Monica and Micah Budney, Raymond and Rebecca Jankowski and Devin, Jacob and Nicholas Budney. Marie is further survived by four great-grandchildren. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, husband and three siblings: Bernie, Joseph and Ginger. A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Brooks. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Father James McNamee will preside and Inurnment will follow the mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Brooks.
