Margaret Gowey

Margaret Louise Gowey, age 80, of Montello passed away peacefully late Monday, December 21, 2009 at Divine Savior Extended Care in Portage. She was born in Beloit, Wisconsin on September 10, 1929 to Thomas and Frieda (Fiebke) Rinehart. Margaret grew up on a small farm east of Medford, Wisconsin and attended Medford High School. She married John Gowey on March 14th 1947 and together through their 51 year marriage they raised their four children in Sauk Prairie. Margaret enjoyed quilting, doing cross-word puzzles and reading. She worked as a drug store clerk in Sauk City for over 30 years. She also was a life member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Sauk Prairie and it wasn't until 2000 that she moved to the Montello area to live with her daughter and family. Survivors include: four children: Daniel (Judy) of Appleton, Gene (Doris) of Oconomowoc, Thomas of Reedsburg, and Peggy Wilson of Montello. Eleven grandchildren: Nathan (Becky) Higgins, Ryan (Christie) Higgins, Rachelle (Todd) Hustad, Samantha (Jacob) Hebert, Heather Wilson, Terri Gowey, Laurie (Jeff) Olsen, Melissa (Jamie) Bolcerek, Christine Gowey, Angela (Ryan) Mainville, and Eric (Terri) Gowey. She is further survived by nine great-grandchildren, two sisters; Nellie Reed and Doris Bartelt, one brother Frederick Rinehart and sister-in-law Joyce Rinehart. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law James Wilson. She is also preceded in death by brothers Donald and Harvey Rinehart and one sister Marie Rinehart. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Crawford Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Bruinooge officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service. Following the service, Margaret will be inurned next to her husband in the Sauk City Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established by the family.
