Mae Struthers

Mae LaVonne Struthers, age 92 of Montello passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the Montello Care Center. Mae was born on April 7, 1932 at home on the family farm in rural Martin County, Minnesota to Albert and Daisy (Sampson) Clark. She graduated from Sherburn High School in 1949 and married the love of her life, Willis “Bill” Struthers on June 24, 1950. Together they were blessed with two children. Bill preceded Mae in death on September 20, 2021.

Mae and Bill raised their family in Rockford and retired to Lake Puckaway. It was there they found a second family at Lake Arrowhead Campground that was very important to them. Together they enjoyed traveling and Mae filled her time cross-stitching, knitting and crocheting. One of her joys was giving her needlework creations to those she cherished, Mae will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Mae is survived by her daughter, Lori (Mark) Gilbaugh of Montello and sister, Elaine Haugen along with several extended family members. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, son, Michael and brother-in-law, James Haugen and siblings: Jean, James and Albert Lee. 

A memorial gathering for Mae Struthers will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. There will be no formal service.  Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
