Lynn G. Eder, age 76 of Wisconsin Dells (rural Oxford) passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 surrounded by family at UW Hospital in Madison. Lynn was born in Park Falls, WI on November 9, 1940 to Clement and Gladyce (Root) Eder. Lynn graduated from Glidden High School in 1958 and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. Lynn married Kathleen Lutz on August 1, 1964 in Glidden and from that union came three children. They lived in the DeForest area. Lynn retired in 1994 as a Specialist in fiber optics from Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company in Madison. He loved his 33 years of faithful employment. After retirement Lynn's dream of owning a campground came true when he and Kathy purchased K&L which they owned for the past 23 years.
Lynn was an avid sports fan. He always managed and played (as pitcher) on numerous teams of softball, fastball and slow pitch. He excelled at bowling, getting on the radio as first place winner of the Schlitz PBS Tournament. He also enjoyed fishing (the Canada trips), snowmobiling and spent many hours bow and gun hunting. As of late, he enjoyed playing board games that he designed. Lynn really enjoyed his life as a snowbird in the south for the winter months along with Kathy the past 10-12 years. While in the Navy Lynn's claim to fame took place during the Cuban crisis when he, as head radio man, broke the message direct from President Kennedy, "If the Russian ships do not stop their mission to Cuba, sink them." And we believe that stopped WWIII. Lynn leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Kathleen and two children: Mike (Sue) of Deforest and Julie Eder of Wisconsin Dells as well as five grandchildren: Brooke, Kimberly, Stephanie, William and Nicole and two great-grandchildren: Sophia and Scott. He is also survived by brother, Terry (Bonnie) and sister, Danielle (Richard) Williams, many nieces, a nephew, cousins and friends. Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Gladyce, his sister, Maxine and his son, Shawn. A Celebration of Lynn's Life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 beginning at 1:00 PM at K & L Campground, 3503 County Road G, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965. At a later date, Lynn's ashes will be taken to the Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery in Glidden, WI where he will receive full military honors. His family would like to thank those at the hospital who made his last days painless and peaceful. Crawford Funeral and Cremation Service of Oxford and Montello is honored to be serving the family. www.CrawfordFH.com
