Loretta Shestock

Loretta (Neck) Shestock, age 88 of Montello passed away peacefully Wednesday evening November 24, 2010 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. She was born in Montello on February 23, 1922 the daughter of Benedict and Gertrude (Laufer) Neck. Loretta married Ransom Shestock on June 23, 1941 in Montello and together they raised their two children and operated Mint-Tello Farms. Loretta was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, serving as a member of St. Ann's Alter Society as well as St. Ann's Funeral Committee for many years. She enjoyed baking, reading and traveling whenever possible. She also was a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society. Loretta is survived by a son, James of Montello, a daughter, Nancy (Grant) Gelhar of Madison, a granddaughter, Katie (Michael) Bruce of Indianapolis, a grandson, Benjamin Gelhar of Madison and a great-grandson, Luke. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives. Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, Ransom, parents, one sister, Margaret Reid, and brothers, Felix and Clarence Neck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also take place from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday at the church. Father Michael Richel will officiate and burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center or the Ransom Shestock Memorial Scholarship Fund. Crawford Funeral Home of Montello is serving the family.
