Lola P. Winkler, age 88 of Packwaukee passed away Thursday evening, September 4, 2014 at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena. She was born in Oxford to Roy and Clara (Bell) Barton Sr. on April 16, 1926. She attended Endeavor High School and married Jerome "Jerry" Winkler on May 4, 1944. Together they lived in Packwaukee and later wintered in Florida; Jerry preceded her in death on November 20, 1997. Lola was a stay at home mom, Lioness of the Packwaukee Lions Club, a Sunday School Teacher and lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Packwaukee.
Lola is survived by four children: Francis of Packwaukee, Warren (Rose) of Florida, Bobbie (Beth) of Blue Mounds and Melody Ann Thomas of California and her beloved friend, Lee Burleton of Packwaukee. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren as well as two great great-grandsons. Lola is further survived by four brothers: Ernie (Evelyn), Lyle "Sarge", Donald (Carol) and Lawrence "Otts" (Dorothy). Lola is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Valjean and four brothers: Roy, Harold, Russell and Robert.
Following Lola's wishes, she has been cremated and will be buried next to her husband at Underhill Cemetery, town of Packwaukee. The family requests all memorials be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Packwaukee or the Care and Share Food Bank of Marquette County.
