Lola Matilda Foote, age 95 of Oxford passed away peacefully at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg on Thursday afternoon, July 11, 2013. Lola was born on January 3, 1918 in the town of Jackson, Adams County to Frederick and Katie (Hayes) Nelson. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1936 and later married Alvin Olson and together they owned and operated Olson's Drive-In during the 1950's. Lola married Bernard Foote in 1964; he preceded her in death in 1986.
Lola loved to be surrounded by her family, even though she never had children, she treated her many nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Her brothers and sisters and many friends were very special to her also. Lola worked for Wisconsin Dairyland Fudge in Wisconsin Dells until she was 85. She liked to dance, play cards and have lunch with her friends at the meal site. Lola was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oxford while her health allowed.
Lola is survived by eleven nieces and nephews: Donna (Skitch) MacKenzie of Madison, Roberta (Thomas) Roos of Oxford, Martha (Kim) Gaffney of Oxford, Patricia (Randy) Mitmoen of Madison, Gerald (Vicki) Klump of Middleton, Stephen (Diana) Klump of Oxford, Diane Klump of Oxford, Brian (Cathy) Nelson of Oxford, Carrie (Daniel) Rozek of Oxford, Cathy (Robert) Hall of Wisconsin Dells, and Caron Collar of Wisconsin Dells. She is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews as well as sisters-in-law, Delia Wenkman and Bernadette Foote. Lola is preceded in death by her parents, husbands and four siblings: Ruth (Henry) Kulmatycki, Edwin Nelson, Duane (Verna) Nelson and Emily (Norman) Klump. She is also preceded in death by her nephew, Ronnie Kulmatycki. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Brenda Pulver will preside and burial will follow at the Oxford Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
