Leo James Schwochert, age 76, of Sublette, IL, formerly of Montello passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Mendota Community Hospital in Mendota, Illinois. Leo was born in Buffalo Township, Marquette County on October 5, 1933 to Elmer and Alma (Witt) Schwochert. He married Ruth Ann Smith on July 4, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pardeeville. Together they relocated to the Rockford, IL area and raised their six children. Leo was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working in his garden, fixing things and watching western movies. Most of all Leo enjoyed spending time with his family, most notably his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include six children: Debra (Bill) Stonewall of Rockford, Il, Leo Jr. of Roscoe, Il, Kurt (Heather) of Montello, Pam (Jim) Lambrecht of North Carolina, Kim Schwochert of South Beloit, Il, and Kelly of Winnebago, IL. Leo is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. Preceding Leo in death are his parents, wife and ten brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2009 at the Crawford Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Hedrick officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery, Township of Buffalo.
