Kim 'Kimmer' H. Klawitter, age 54 of Montello died unexpectedly at his home Thursday, August 9, 2012. Kim was born in Portage on November 15, 1957, the son of Henry and Jelaine (Doepke). He was a 1976 graduate of Montello High School and shortly thereafter he enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his four year commitment and continued a member of the reserves until retiring on September 8, 2001. At retirement his rank was Boatswain's Mate First Class Petty Officer. On November 10, 1984 Kim married Patricia Kendall in Montello. Kim worked for his father's business, Henry Klawitter & Sons Construction for over 20 years. He was also employed at Didion Construction and most recently by R&M. Kim was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Montello Rod & Gun Club and was a past member of American Legion Post 351. He enjoyed the outdoors; especially fishing on the Packwaukee Causeway and hunting with Bob. Kim will always be remembered for morning coffee groups and spending time with his family and friends talking about his navy travels and experiences. Kim is survived by his mother, Jelaine (Bob) Koch of Montello and four siblings: Kevin (Kathy) of Montello, Koreen (Chris Taber) Klawitter of Neenah, Ken (Carrie) of Madison and Karen (Mike) Frystak of Stevens Point. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Eric (Nicole), Lisa (Greg), Brianna, Allison, Nicholas, Elliott and Olivia as well as great-niece, Khloe. Kim is further survived by his step-mother, Dorothy Klawitter and many other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his father, Kim is also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Margaret Klawitter and maternal grandparents, Henry and Clara Doepke. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Pete Zietlow will preside and following the service, military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 351 of Montello. Private family inurment will take place at a later date in the Montello City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
