Justus Spillner Jr

Justus 'Skip' Spillner Jr., age 71 of Montello died Friday afternoon, December 21, 2012 at UW Hospital in Madison. Justus was born in Chicago, IL on March 6, 1941 to Justus Sr. and Alice (Schmidt) Spillner. He was a 1959 graduate of Montello High School and served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1960 until 1963. On June 15, 1963 he married Janice Erdman at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Westfield. Skip worked for over 30 years for Appleton Paper. He was a longtime member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Skip was an avid outdoorsman, especially deer hunting and also enjoyed reading the paper. His grandchildren meant the world to him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Skip leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Janice and 4 sons: Justus Carl (Kimberly) of Oxford, Jeffrey (Pamela) of Hancock, James (Hope) of Windsor and Jerry (Al Oldham) of Milwaukee and seven grandchildren: Nicole, Justus Chase, Jarod, Michelle, Alissa, Courtney and Ariel. He is also survived by one brother, two sisters, two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews. Justus is preceded in death by his father who was killed at Iwo Jima during World War II and his mother in 2011. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held at the church from noon until the hour service. Pastor R.F. Westendorf will preside and burial will follow service with full military honors by American Legion Post 351 of Montello at the Montello Eastside Cemetery.
