Julius Ptasienski

Julius 'Jules' C. Ptasienski, age 70 of Montello passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2011 in West Lafayette, Indiana while traveling to Alabama. Jules was born in North Chicago on July 1, 1940 to Peter Sr. and Stella Ptasienski. He grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and married Kathy Marolt on July 14, 1962 in Waukegan, IL and together they had 3 children. In 1971 they moved to Rockford where Jules was employed by Barber Coleman as sales manager until 1983 when they moved to Montello. Jules owned and operated the L & M liquor store in Montello and then worked as the Building, Grounds and Transportation Supervisor for the Montello School District until he retired in 2002. Jules was avid Packers and Nascar fan; other hobbies he enjoyed were: golfing, fishing, gardening and working with wood. Jules is survived by his wife, Kathy of 48 years, three children: Ray (Steve Mertz) of Marietta, GA, Eileen (Terry) Chostner of Cedar Rapids, IA and Brian of Portage as well as four grandchildren: Shelby, Stephen, Sydney and Julian and four step grandchildren. He is further survived by eleven siblings: Joseph (Joyce), Daniel (Elizabeth), Gene (Blanche), Betty (Doug) Lewis, Dorothy Salo, Annie (Dino) Massimo, Ceil (Jerry) Stankiewicz, Stash (Sharon), Ed, Sally (John) Melch and Lorraine (Gene) Bader. Jules is further survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Jules is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Peter Jr. (Joan), and brother-in-law, John Salo. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Father Michael Richel will preside and inurnment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Jules's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601.
