John Fred Ladik, age 93 of Montello passed away on March 21, 2015 at his home. John was born on January 10th, 1922 to John and Laura (Frenz) Ladik in Milwaukee. He married June Gaulke on October 3, 1942 at the Cross Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He joined the US Navy on August 31st, 1942 and served his country during World War II on the USS John D. Edwards. John worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for over 40 years. Upon retirement they moved to Montello in 1983.
John loved to garden, play his concertina, listen to polka music and ride his motorcycle. He will be remembered as being a very kind and considerate person to everyone he met. He was dearly loved by his family.
John is survived by his two sons: Thomas (Doreen Gondek) of Montello and Walter (Sandra) of Monona, and two daughters: Linda (Fred) Fabian of Burlington and Nancy (Tom) Mender of Monona. John is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren as well as his sister, Dorothy (Earl) Hodgson.
John is preceded in his death by his wife, June, his brother Fred, and his parents.
A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 am at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 4011 Major Avenue, Madison 53716. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Rev. Dr. Paula Harris will officiate and inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Agnesian Hospice Hope-Green Lake.
