John Burtch

John "Jack" Leroy Burtch, age 71 of Oxford and formerly of Pewaukee passed away peacefully Sunday evening March 8, 2015 surrounded by family at his home. Jack was born in West Allis on September 30, 1943 to Jasper "Jack" and Eda (Klemme) Burtch. He graduated from West Allis Central High School in 1961 and worked in and around Milwaukee for four years. He then went on to serve his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a radio teletype operator.
Jack married Mary Bloch on October 3, 1970 at St. Rita's Catholic Church in West Allis. After a lengthy career as a truck driver and serving as union steward with Teamster's Local 344, he and Mary moved to the Oxford area in 2001. Jack was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He and Mary also spent time traveling and most of all enjoying the company of their family and friends. Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary and two children: Jeremy (Jennifer) of Fort Atkinson and Jennifer Burtch of Waukesha. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Wyatt and Riley as well as his sister, Mary Lou (Tony) Plicka, sisters-in-law: Margie and Barbara, nieces, nephews and other relatives and as well as many dear friends. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Walter "Bud" and Anthony "Tony". A memorial service for John "Jack" Burtch will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home of Oxford, 306 S. Franklin Avenue, Oxford. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, March 28th at Church and Chapel, Waukesha/Pewaukee at 2:30 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Father Dennis Klemme will lead both services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Marquette County Care and Share Food Bank, P O Box 405, Montello, WI 53949 or the NationalMSSociety.org.
