JoAnn McConkey

JoAnn McConkey, age 68 of Westfield passed away Saturday evening, August 24, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer at the St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo. JoAnn was born in Bismarck, North Dakota to Joseph and Winifred (Haggerty) Rockey. Her family moved to the Chicago area and JoAnn worked for many years as manager at a retail store; she later married Warren McConkey in Athens, TN in September of 2001 and moved to Westfield in 2006 to be closer to family. Warren preceded her in death on May 18, 2012. JoAnn was an animal lover and she also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, baking and most of all spending time with her grandson. She was an active member of The People's Church and cherished the many friendships she made there.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Donnie Kostecki and one very special grandson, Vincent, both of Chicago. She is also survived by two sisters: Barb (Ron) McHugh of Westfield and Laurie (Gregg) Holt of Marshfield and one brother, Joe Rockey of Fargo, ND. Along with her church family, JoAnn is further survived by special nieces: Colleen (Norlin) Reetz, Kathleen (Scott) Virch and Laureen McHugh, all of Westfield, great-nieces: Jennifer (Troy) Burgess, Priscilla (John) York and Samantha Jo Cureton, great-nephew, Matt (Sam Vestuto) Virch. She also leaves behind great-great nieces and nephews: Braydon, Madeline and Bryson as well as her special friend, Bill Hamlin. JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Deanna Elizabeth Kostecki.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at The People's Church, 3045 15th Road, Montello. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Mark Hensley will officiate and burial will follow the service at the Westfield East Cemetery.
