Joan Thompson

Joan L. Thompson, age 85 of Montello passed away peacefully Friday evening, July 3, 2015 at the Montello Care Center surrounded by her family. Joan was born on May 8, 1930 in the township of Packwaukee at home to Kermit and Francis (Skinner) Neale. She graduated from Montello High School in 1948 and later married Jerry Daniels and together they had eight children. Joan married Myron Thompson on April 6, 1968 and from that union came one daughter. Joan worked for the Montello High School for sixteen years as a secretary as well as raising her nine children and many grandchildren. She loved to read, listen to music and dance; especially with her twin sister, Jean. Joan was known for being a fabulous cook, playing cards, golfing and bowling. She spent countless hours supporting her children and grandchildren at their sporting events and enjoying many family gatherings. Joan is survived by her husband of 47 years, Myron and eight children: Jim (Debbie) Daniels of Montello, Joy Kolstad of Sarasota, FL, Jeri (Ed) Koelbl of Montello, Jeff (Joyce) Daniels of Sun City, CA, Joe (Janick) Daniels of Aliso Viejo, CA, Jon (Diane) Daniels of Goodyear, AZ, Jack (Tanya) Daniels of Montello and Traci Isberner of Montello. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Randy Stelter of Montello, sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Joan is further survived by her brother, John (Arlene) Neale, sister-in-law, Jan Neale as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jean Stelter, sister, Jean Krentz, brother, Ralph Neale, brother-in-law, Robert Krentz, son-in-law, James Isberner Jr. and grandson-in-law, Jared Stampfl. A funeral service for Joan will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:45 p.m. at the church. Pastor Jeff Radley will preside and burial will take place on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Montello City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that is being established in Joan's name. The family would like to thank Ken and the staff at the Montello Care Center for their wonderful care and compassion they showed to Joan through her years there.
