James McChesney

James “Jim” E. McChesney, 72 of Montello, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau with his wife by his side.  Jim was born in Maryland on March 13, 1951 to Norman and Eunice (Grant) McChesney.  He attended Montello Schools and was active in band and was also on the football team.   Jim was employed as an instructor at Sun Prairie Diesel Driving School for over 30 years. He loved teaching, whether it was his students driving or his family and friends about trees, gardening or just life lessons.  He loved being outside with his tractors, gardening and his trees.  Jim was a very patient, loving person who always welcomed a good chat with anyone.

Jim is survived by his wife of almost 38 years, Carol, son, Daniel (Sara) and daughters: Tammy McChesney, Sherry (Nick Shier) Schultz, Theresa (Roberto) Chavez, Brenda (Willie) Burrell and Rebecca McChesney. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.

A funeral service for James McChesney will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until the hour of service.  Rev. Justin O’Boyle will preside and burial will follow the service at Underhill Cemetery, Town of Packwaukee.
