Jean Roidt

Jean Kay Roidt, age 68 of Montello passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, March 30, 2014 surrounded by her family at UW Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Jean was born in Cambridge, WI on October 1, 1945 to Paul and Mabel (Harter) Christ. She was a graduate of Lake Mills High School and went on the further her education and earned a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jean took the position of UW Extension-Home Economist in Marquette County and later married Richard Roidt on June 6, 1970 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello. Jean enjoyed flower gardening and was an avid quilter. She taught quilting classes at both the Gingham Goose and the Home Spun Quilt Shop and also was a longtime 4-H leader. Jean was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello, but most of all Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include: her husband of 43 years, Richard and three children: Paul of Montello, Gary (Denise) of Cambridge and Emily (Chad) Stevenson of Arlington as well as four grandchildren: Gabrielle, Kayla, Evan and Kimberly. She is further survived by many in-laws, relatives and dear friends. Jean is preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service for Jean will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the London Moravian Church, N5610 Hwy O, Cambridge, WI. Visitation will be held Friday evening at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Jane Follmer Zekoff will preside and burial will follow the service at Rock Lake Cemetery, Lake Mills. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the London Moravian Church, N5610 Hwy O, Cambridge, WI 53523 or UW Carbone Cancer Center, 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792.
