Jean Evelyn Riesen, age 84 of Packwaukee/Oxford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday evening, May 21, 2015 at her home. Jean was born in Bayview, Wisconsin on March 4, 1931 to Dominic and Lorraine (Germanson) Chiaverotti. She graduated from Bayview High School and furthered her education by attending cosmetology school in Madison. Jean married Paul Riesen on September 25, 1948 in Milwaukee and together they came to Packwaukee in 1969 and built and opened Riesen's Family Restaurant. Paul preceded Jean in death on February 11, 1998. Jean operated the restaurant for 30 thirty years until December of 1999. She loved animals and people. Jean was a very giving and kind person who loved to make you smile. She loved the Lord, was mission minded and was an active church member and encouraged others to do the same all throughout her life. Jean touched many lives and all who knew her loved her. Jean is survived by her four children: Penny (Thomas) Schmidt of Brooklyn, Susan (David) Pestor of Evansville, Gregory (Carla) of Montello and Patricia (Chris) Voigtlander of Greenville as well as nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, David (Ilene) Chiaverotti, her sister, Margie Scrutin as well as her fiancAC., Allan Michaels of Oxford. Jean is further survived by other relatives and many friends. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Shirley Premitz. A funeral service for Jean will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Miller Street, Oxford. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Brenda Pulver will preside and following the traditional service, Jean will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Jean's name.
