James "Jim" Martin Wojtysiak, age 86 of Montello passed away Saturday evening, January 10, 2015 at the Montello Care Center. Jim was born in Chicago on August 25, 1928 to Martin and Grace (Mach) Wojtysiak. He married Geraldine Hejl at St. Dionysus Catholic Church in Cicero, IL on July 1, 1950. Jim worked for Western Electric as an electrical technician in Cicero for 34 years. In 1986, following his retirement, he and Geri moved to Montello. Jim enjoyed electronics, model trains, boats and planes. He and Geri enjoyed their home on Montello Lake where they spent many hours fishing together. Jim was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Montello. His greatest title was "Papa" from his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. Jim is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Geraldine "Geri" and his daughter, Gerianne Arntzen of Amboy, IL and two grandsons: John and Joseph and granddaughter, Jamie. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Slavicek of Downers Grove, IL and his brother, Martin of Phoenix, AZ. Jim is further survived by nieces, nephews and other family members and many dear friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Father Tim Renz will preside and burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, town of Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
