James "Jim" Tofari, age 74 of Montello passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, June 28, 2014 at UW Hospital in Madison. Jim was born in Kankakee, IL on April 27, 1940 to Casimere "Ted" and Geraldine (Wilson) Tofari. On August 30, 1963 he married Donna Judas in Kankakee and together they raised their family in the Montello Area. Jim drove semi for Brakebush Bros., Dairyland Poultry, Wade Implement and finished his career with Morath Trucking. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and keeping the feeders full for his songbirds. Jim will be remembered for his colorful conversations with his family and friends on his deck. Though he left us so suddenly, Jim will not be forgotten. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Donna and three children: Shelley (Greg) Papenfuss of Oxford, Jimmy (Beth) of Winneconne and Debbie (Frank) Miner of Eau Claire as well as four grandchildren: Tony (Alicia), Kayla, James and Andy and two great-grandchildren: Mason and Zane. He is also survived by his mother, Geraldine and three siblings: Teddy (Jane) of South Carolina, Leabelle (Bruce) Matthews and Pat Wincell both of Montello and one brother-in-law, Ken Judas of Princeton. Jim is further survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Jim is preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law, Ray Wincell. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. A graveside prayer service led by Pastor Pete Zietlow will follow the visitation at the Montello Eastside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
