James Polcyn

James "Jim" Polcyn, age 69 of Princeton died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 12, 2013. Jim was born on January 2, 1944 to James "Jake" and Margie (Kenitz) Polcyn in Ripon. He was raised on the family farm in the Town of Mecan and graduated from Montello in 1962 and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He taught music and sold insurance prior finding his passion of caring for special people while employed by Catholic Charities in Montello and Princeton. Jim was a very devout member of the Catholic Faith; attending multiple Catholic Churches in the area. He enjoyed playing the piano, gardening as well as cooking. Jim is survived by his sister, Dawn (David) Peterson of Wautoma and brother, Jon (Gertrude) of Montello. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and most importantly the staff and residents of the Catholic Charities Group Homes who he cared so deeply for. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, step-brother, Victor Sommerfeldt and niece, DaNita Peterson-Battles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Father Dave Carrano will preside and inurnment will follow the mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Catholic Charities, 230 Central Avenue, Montello, WI 53949.
