Irmgard Kleist

Irmie Tonn Kleist, age 80 of Packwaukee passed away peacefully early Thursday morning November 25, 2010 at Golden years assisted living in Montello with her granddaughter by her side. Irmie was born in Markesan on March 20, 1930 to Ervin and Martha (Strobush) Lungwitz. She was a 1948 graduate of Berlin High School and married Milton Glunn in 1948 in Auroraville, WI and remarried Eugene Tonn of Packwaukee in 1957. Irmie had various jobs throughout her life including operating the variety store in Packwaukee. Irmie had a zest for life; she enjoyed line dancing, crafting and also reading. She was member of the 'Red Hat Society' and also a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Packwaukee. Irmie is survived by two sons: Dennis (Joellen) Glunn of Montello, Gary (Gail) Glunn of Montello, two daughters, Connie (Charles) Ness of Portage and Jeanette Winkler of Packwaukee. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Paul (Diane) Walker, Trevor (Inna) Walker, Jodeen (Gabe) Green and Leah and Anna Glunn. She is further survived by five great-grandchildren: Brooke, Marshall, Alisa, Mila Jo, and Marena as well as a brother, David Lungwitz and a sister Betty Krause along with cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members. Irmie is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, step-father, Richard Whitby, an infant daughter, Denise Tonn, a sister, Ruth Pautz, daughter-in-law, Susan Glunn and son-in-law, Dan Evans. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Packwaukee. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Rev. Brian Rhode will officiate and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Packwaukee Township. Crawford Funeral Home of Montello is serving the family.
