Howard Doremus

Howard James Doremus, age 53 of Westfield passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 31, 2015 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. Howard was born in Toledo, OH on February 5, 1961 to Noel and Arlene (Wilson) Doremus. Following high school, he worked as a mason in Florida and later relocated to Oxford in 1993 and eventually to Westfield. He maintained his love for deep sea fishing and was a devout Pittsburgh Steelers fan and hockey fan. Howard enjoyed his work and his many friends and will be remembered for his sense of humor. Howard leaves behind his two children: Joseph and Ciara Doremus, both of Oxford, three siblings: Randy (Michele) of Michigan, Karen Beasley of Lake Geneva and Richard of Ohio. He is also survived by his mother, Arlene (Melvin) Czerniejewski of Ohio, paternal grandmother, Ethel Doremus as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Howard is further survived by his long-time friend, Tammy Roos. Howard is preceded in death by his father, paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents. A memorial service for Howard will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home of Oxford. Visitation will be held from 12:00 (noon) until the time of service. Pastor Brenda Pulver will preside and a luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
