Hazel Low

Hazel Irene Low, age 93 of Oxford, WI (formerly of Grawn, Michigan) passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Tivoli Nursing Home in Portage, WI. Hazel was born in Cleon Township, Manistee County, Michigan on August 11, 1922 to Warner and Jessie (Bowman) Stiver. She graduated from Mesick High School in Mesick, MI and furthered her education earning a degree from St. Paul Institute in Theology. Hazel married Virgil Low in Copemish, Michigan on August 27, 1946; together they raised their four children in Michigan before moving to Oxford in 2001 to be closer to family. Virgil preceded Hazel in death on October 13, 2005. Hazel enjoyed traveling with Virgil, seeing all of the lower 48 states; during the wintering they spent in Winterhaven, CA she enjoyed volunteering at the Christian Service Center. She collected rocks and was always interested in geology and loved to spend time with her family.

Hazel leaves behind her four children: David (Nancy) of Oxford, Timothy (Dianne) of Battle Creek, MI, Robert (Donna Lee) of Jacksonville, FL and Mary (Dennis) Houghton of Highland, MI as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Herman (Juanita) Stiver and sisters-in-law: Mary Stiver and Virginia Stiver.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil and two brothers: Howard and Harold. Private family services will be held in Michigan at a later date.
