Geraldine Kersten

Geraldine Martha Kersten, age 84 of Oxford passed away peacefully Saturday morning, November 22, 2014 at Harris Villa Assisted Living in Westfield. Geraldine was born in Kenosha to Archie and Violet (Smith) Foreman on January 10, 1930. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School and later married Calvin Kersten on February 7, 1953 in Kenosha. They moved to Oxford in 1987; Calvin preceded Geraldine in death in March of 2010. Geraldine and Calvin were inseparable; they did almost everything together including working by each other's side on their Christmas tree farm. She was a beautiful seamstress and also enjoyed knitting as well as cooking. Geraldine's family meant the world to her and those memories will be cherished forever. Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Lynnette (Donald) VanBeckum of Oxford and daughter-in-law, Lori Kersten of Baraboo. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jamie (Andy) Puckett of Deforest and Justin VanBeckum of Pewaukee as well as her brother, Arch J. Foreman of Sturtevant. She is further survived by several treasured nieces and nephews. Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Randall. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Pete Zietlow will preside and private family inurment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Agnesian Hospice Hope of Green Lake.
