George E. LaRoche Jr., age 78 of Oxford passed away peacefully Saturday evening, April 4, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. George was born in West Warwick, Rhode Island on December 17, 1936 to George and Rita LaRoche Sr. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and through his time in the service he settled in Endeavor. George was a mason and steeplejack by trade but also owned and operated the gun shop and laundromat in Endeavor for many years before moving to Oxford in the mid 1990's. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing as well as gardening and collecting unique items. George leaves behind his caregiver and fiancAC.e, Geraldine Garbarski of Oxford, his mother, Rita and six children: Mary, Rose, Joe, Duane, De Etta and Billy. He is also survived by his sister, Rita and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his father, son, George LaRoche III and grandson, Jeremy. A memorial service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Crawford Funeral Home of Oxford. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Brenda Pulver will officiate and burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Lakeview Cemetery, town of Jackson, Adams County.
