Frederick "Fritz" L. Schernecker, age 90 of Montello, passed away on September 23, 2015 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. He was born on April 28, 1925 in Marshall, the son of Leo and Anna (Freidel) Schernecker. Early in his life he worked very hard on the family farm before meeting the love of his life of 67 years Shirley A. (Ziebell) Schernecker. Together Fritz and Shirley raised three daughters: Chris, Lisa and Tracy. They retired and moved to Montello in 1989 where they had vacationed on weekends since 1965. During his 26 years of retirement he was very active in the Montello community working for the Montello Lake Association and gun club. He kept his passion for farming alive through gardening. He enjoyed snowmobiling, nature, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Fritz was very active in the Lions Club in the Montello area. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow for dedicated humanitarian services. He shared his wife's love for music as a member of the church choir and Recycled Teenagers Band.
