Faye Louis Luger, age 94 of Oxford passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024 at Harris Villa Assisted Living in Westfield. Faye was born March 8, 1929 in Portage, the son of Louis and Mary (Huber) Luger.
In June of 1949, Faye married Arlene Gerbitz in Madison. Faye was a lifelong farmer who raised his family on the Luger Homestead in Douglas township, Marquette County. He was a successful farmer who milked cows, raised feeder cattle, sheep as well as did custom sheep shearing. He excelled in raising corn and earned several awards in the 1950s exceeding 150 bushels/acre. He had a knack for finding arrowheads as he worked in his fields. Faye also enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin and Canada, deer and turkey and waterfowl hunting in Wisconsin as well as elk and moose hunting in Wyoming, Montana and Alberta, Canada. Faye and Arlene enjoyed travelling in the US and Canada as well as Central and South America, Africa, many European countries, China, Japan and Australia. He enjoyed card club with the local farm families and going to Casinos, Ho Clunks was a favorite. Faye enjoyed the Packers and Badgers football games.
Faye will be dearly missed by his four children: David (Shirley) of Endeavor, Diane Phillips of Reedsburg, Robert of Oxford and Barbara (Robert) Furlano of La Crosse as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Faye was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Arlene, sisters: Velma, Matilda, Delores, Lois and grandson, Todd Luger.
A funeral service for Faye Luger will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. Rev. Larry Sheppard will preside and Faye will be laid to rest privately at the Briggsville Protestant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 330 E. Vallette Street, Oxford, WI 53952.
