Elizabeth "Betty" Voigtsberger, age 83 of Oxford passed away peacefully Friday morning, May 31, 2013. She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Ralph and Katharine (Nevius) Krumm. Betty married Theodore "Ted" Voigtsberger Jr. on September 15, 1951 in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and together they raised their seven children in Hatboro, PA until relocating to Chicago in 1969 and it wasn't until the 1980's that they permanently retired to the Oxford area. Ted preceded Betty in death on April 4, 2010. Elizabeth enjoyed golfing, fishing, bingo, bowling as well as bird watching but she will be remembered most for her sassy and witty sense of humor. She and Ted traveled extensively in their later years and also had a very important canine companion, Tasha. Without a doubt, the most important part of Betty's life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Elizabeth leaves behind her seven children: Theodore III of Wisconsin Dells, Katherine (Andrew) Horn of Sleepy Hollow, IL, Michael of Mesa, AZ, Thomas (Melissa) of Lombard, IL, Gary (Lynne) of Redondo Beach, CA, Kurt of Naperville, IL and Jan (Thomas) Gallagher of Lombard, IL. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandson as well as two very special friends and caregivers, Tammy Long and Kathleen Cantwell. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers: Ralph, Joe, Jack and Ed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Brooks. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Father James P. McNamee will preside and following the traditional funeral, Elizabeth will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Lung Association. Crawford Funeral and Cremation Service of Oxford (formerly the Oxford Funeral Home) is honored to be serving the family. www.CrawfordFH.com
