Elizabeth Atkinson

Elizabeth 'Betty' Atkinson, age 65 of Packwaukee passed away peacefully Monday morning, September 24, 2012 at the UW-Hospital in Madison. Betty was born on January 5, 1947 in Chicago to Louis and Ann Verbic. She worked for many years for the Sears Corporation until moving to the Montello area in the early 1970's. Betty operated the Head Start Program in Montello for many years and later worked at Kwik Trip. She enjoyed gardening, bingo and watching her beloved Chicago Bears. Betty volunteered and gave a tremendous amount of her time working and caring for others. She loved her family and friends very much and will be missed by the many people she touched. Betty is survived by her husband, Duane and two sons: Chuck Duell of Aberdeen, SD and Billy Duell of Portage and two step-sons: Leon (Melissa) Wompler and Jay Schmidt, both of Oxford. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren: Preston and Aiden Wompler as well as two sisters: Delores (Tom) Cole of Orland Park, IL and Mary Anne (Mike) Stowski of Summit, IL. Betty is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Jennifer Duell and a sister, Carol Miller. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 28th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home. There will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
