Eleanor Lapen

Eleanor Lapen of Montello, age 83, passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning June 17, 2011 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Eleanor was born in Chicago, IL on July 14, 1927 to Joseph and Lillian (Wojciechowski) Dempozynski, and she married Raymond Lapen on January 6, 1949 at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 2006. Throughout Eleanor's life she cared for her family. She had a creative and artistic gift which brought much joy to many people throughout her life, beginning with an early career as a graphic artist. Her children, grandchildren, friends and parishioners were the recipients of her many quilts, crafts and ideas. She was actively involved with all the parishes of which she was a member, most recently with St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello where she sang in the choir. Eleanor also enjoyed animals, wildlife and fishing. Eleanor is survived by her three children: Wayne (Trudy) of Peoria, IL, Jo Ann (Randy) Senzig of Portage and Mark (Kathy) of Beaver Dam, as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Eleanor is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and her many dear friends from both her church and the Montello Senior Center. Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Father Michael Richel will officiate and internment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Little Orphan Animal Rescue, P. O. Box 154, Montello, WI 53949. Crawford Funeral Home of Montello is serving the family.
